Josh at Martians Attacking Indianapolis has broken THE big story of this football offseason, via a source who requested she (or maybe he, maybe. You don’t know.) remain anonymous.
While recent injuries and our brutal schedule leave much uncertainty for this season, one thing is for certain…
This year’s Derby Day was fun despite the smaller-than-usual group and threat of cruddy weather. The rain moved out early and we did manage to get some sun before the night came and cooled things off.
This year’s biggest sponsor was Bulleit Bourbon, who set up a huge area in the sponsor tent complete with free bourbon drinks, leather couches, and coffee tables. (Big ups to Jamie at 94.9 The Bull for the sponsor passes! Thanks, Jame!)
I’m still proud of our Dawgs. It was difficult to see them jump out to such an early lead and hold it through halftime, because if there’s been one ongoing negative about this team (even through the SEC tournament), it’s the fact they always hit a lull, get tired, miss shots, give up buckets on the other end at minutes at a time. And that’s what the last 8-9 minutes of the loss to Xavier was - a king-sized lull, slump, whatever you want to call it. That’s why it was difficult to watch us build such a lead going into the half - I still knew it was coming. If we hit that wall in the first half, we might still be in the tourney.
Hopefully this last week will resonate through the program for a long time to come. Yata and Bliss laid a foundation formed more of poured heart than poured concrete. Now we see if the others can adopt what our two seniors have left this team with. We now have a solid group of tournament-tested underclassmen to challenge for the SEC title next year.
I’d like to say “I can’t wait”, but that wouldn’t be true; after all, we got a football season to play. But this run still makes it hard to be patient.
Includes the 23 (!) ways to get a man (any man) to first base which includes:
… if there is a runner on first base when the game is suspended. If this runner then gets traded prior to the makeup a new player is allowed to take his place without the roster implications of using a pinch runner, thereby reaching base.
Anyone care to explain to me the difference between #8 and #9 on that list?
yo dave, c’mon man. let’s update this blog yo. I’m having withdrawl. - Dennis, Jan 18, 7:15 PM
Apologies. Here’s a smattering, a menagerie, a sprinkling if you will of goings-on and whatnot.
OMGCheckTheKidsOutOfSchoolAndGetToTheStoreForBreadAndMilkBeforeWeAllDieSnowJam 2008 arrived quietly Thursday and then with more of a vengeance on Saturday. Now that it’s already melting off, we can go ahead and start looking forward to the next one, likely three years from now.
Josh and I agree on enough things that it makes me slightly uncomfortable. A couple recent things that fit into this category: We both want to see a Packers/Pats Super Bowl, with the Pack coming out on top; and, you must must must see Once. You must. Do it. You then must get the soundtrack.
While you’re getting the Once soundtrack, do yourself a favor and check out “Boxer”, the latest album from The National.
This is just a blog by a guy named DAve who likes the Dawgs, college football, golf, music, a good bourbon, photos, design, Austrian economics, yadda, yadda, yadda. More?
