Ticket Of The Day: Atlanta Braves v. Montreal Expos, Turner Field 2000
Pour one out for Youppi and the Expos. RIP. Nothing more American than kicking some Canadian ass on the 4th of July. The Jones’s showed up on this day.

For the low, low price of $10.00, Meredith and I got to see UGA earn a berth in the College World Series in Omaha by beating TECH. ON THEIR OWN FIELD. Seriously, you can’t get much more enjoyable than that, at least as far as college baseball is concerned.
This was a mega-rock show at the race track with a ton of bands… lemme see if I can find a band list online…
Here you go: Better Than Ezra, Collective Soul, Eve 6, Everlast, Live, Marvelous 3, New Radicals, Silverchair, Sugar Ray, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Offspring and Third Eye Blind.
I remember sitting waaaay up in the bleachers away from everyone during Collective Soul, and being intrigued that the Mighty, Mighty Bosstones has a band member who’s only job is to dance on stage. I wonder if he gets paid the same as the other members.
I went to this show with Josh, Justin, Jamie (I think), Dennis (I think), Jonathan, and Anthony Kiedis’s half-sister. She said Jonathan reminded her of Flea.
Great band back in the day, before they changed drummers and became the “Josh Joplin Group” which I still don’t understand to this day. I think I went with Dennis’s brother to this show.
Trisha became kind of a big deal to say the least. But being the brother of one of her friends from Young Harris College paid off. Got to meet her backstage and everything. This was just after her first hit, “She’s In Love With The Boy”, took off.
The UGA2000 clan drove down from Athens for this game. Amy and I had been dating for a couple months at this point. I took a great picture of her in front of the Hank Aaron statue out front before the game. I wonder where that picture is.
Luci’s big moment, playing in front of tons of family and friends. I remember Amy crying with happiness when she and the rest of the band came out on stage. I remember going to a bar with Moby and Josh playing Fatboy Slim on the jukebox. I remember meeting him. I remember not having a good feeling about it. I remember telling myself to put the past away and not be so judgmental. I remember that being difficult. Some good memories are tainted with not-so-good ones.
One of the first real dates for Amy and I. She would have been just over two months into her 30’s today.
This is the only NCAA tournament event I’ve ever been to (I think that was the case for Josh as well, who went with me) and it didn’t disappoint.
In the first game, LSU upset top-seeded Duke and would go on to the Final Four. In the second, Texas knocked off West Virginia on a buzzer-beating jumper by Kenton Paulino:
