Archive for Ticket Of The Day

Luci’s big moment, playing in front of tons of family and friends. I remember Amy crying with happiness when she and the rest of the band came out on stage. I remember going to a bar with Moby and Josh playing Fatboy Slim on the jukebox. I remember meeting him. I remember not having a good feeling about it. I remember telling myself to put the past away and not be so judgmental. I remember that being difficult. Some good memories are tainted with not-so-good ones.

One of the first real dates for Amy and I. She would have been just over two months into her 30’s today.

This is the only NCAA tournament event I’ve ever been to (I think that was the case for Josh as well, who went with me) and it didn’t disappoint.
In the first game, LSU upset top-seeded Duke and would go on to the Final Four. In the second, Texas knocked off West Virginia on a buzzer-beating jumper by Kenton Paulino:

One of my executive suite tenants at my old job of which I shall never speak, save to curse their very existance, hooked me up with an extra ticket to see Bruce. First and only time, and it was a great show. This was part of their tour in support of “The Rising”. We were seated behind the stage above Max which was actually kinda cool since I used to be a drummer in a former life.

My buddy Carl invited me to go see the 3-Point, Skills, and Slam-Dunk contests at Philips Arena, and for the life of me I can’t remember who won any of the events.

Ugh. The Dawgs made a valiant comeback after getting horse-whipped in the first half, only to lose by 3. The tailgate was fun, though; we had a lot of people there and Josh set off fireworks in his crotch, so that was… eh, neat. I guess.

The Dawgs closed out their ‘07 season by systematically destroying Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl.

Georgia came back to beat Virginia Tech in a great game. I was wondering why I didn’t have any Flickr pics of this game/tailgate, until I remembered that I had a horrible 24-hour (more like 48-hour) flu that almost prevented me from going. But I sucked it up and thanks to a smuggled bottle of Pepto and MARTA, got to the Dome with plenty of time to spare before kickoff.

Georgia destroyed Arkansas 30-3 en route to its first SEC Championship since 1982. I remember it being cold tailgating with the original Tent City crew in a gravel parking lot just across the street from the World Congress Center. Michele was nice enough to accompany me. Big ups to Pops for scoring us all tickets as he’s done on several occasions now.

Georgia beat on LSU 34-14 to win its 2nd SEC Championship in 4 years. Despite the weather, this was the best Georgia Dome tailgate I’ve ever been to.
