Um... Hmm.
Today's inappropriately titled religious tract brought to you by Trinity Lutheran Church of Columbia, Missouri:

Eleven Twelve
An old educational tune and its accompanying video gets a 21st Century makeover. Check it out here (Windows Media file, about 3:30).
It's amazing what a flood of memories I got from watching this. I feel like I remembered every scene right before it happened.

My Jaw Hit The Floor
I was watching "On The Record with Bob Costas" on HBO yesterday. Had a good segment on the film Airplane! with interviews with Zucker, Nielsen, and Graves. Then on comes Dennis Hopper, who I always knew used to be about as left-wing as you can get and, I thought, still was. Apparently not.
Costas asked Hopper how people react when they find out that he is in fact a former Democrat and current Bush supporter, and how that evolution came about...
Hopper's response?
I supported Bush and I'm not going to back down on that now. How did the evolution happen? I got sober.
Wow. Now that was one of the funniest things I've heard in a while. Good times.

Well, well, well
It seems that we didn't recently discover chemical weapons in Iraq, since we know Hussein obeyed the UN Resolution to a T so that when we unjustifiably invaded there wouldn't be any chemical weapons anywh... oops.
Gazi George, a former Iraqi nuclear scientist under Saddam's regime, told Fox News that he believes many similar weapons stockpiled by the former regime were either buried underground or transported to Syria. He noted that the airport where the device was detonated is on the way to Baghdad from the Syrian border.
Now, I'm a rational guy. I don't think this is the end-all, be-all "smoking gun" but it sure as hell strengthens my belief that the current administration's intelligence was not perhaps as shady as some would have you believe.
Granted, one shell dispensing sarin does not a "large stockpile" make, but hopefully that won't prevent the US from properly addressing this situation. We just need to be sure, yeah?
Maybe the shell was overlooked as a sarin-carrying piece of ordinance when the Iraqis were disposing of the rest. Maybe some enterprising kid bought it as a paperweight, then sold it back into circulation. Could have been any number of things, I guess...
Maybe it fell off the truck bound for Syria.

"Damn, Just Damn"
That's all I can say about this:
Doctors subjected them to a series of examinations and found they were both apparently fertile, and should have had no trouble conceiving.A clinic spokesman said: "When we asked them how often they had had sex, they looked blank, and said: "What do you mean?".
I'm speechless.

Farewell, Jasper
A getaway weekend starting today, finally! Me and some of the peeps are heading up to the Hartman House in Jasper for a weekend of careless happy bacchanalia. Alas, 'tis a bittersweet jaunt as the house is being sold. We got a lot of mileage out of that house over the last 10-15 years. One day I'd like to own some nice property up in the boonies for weekend excursions and revelry of the naked-and-running-through-the-woods variety. Not that I've ever actually done that, mind you...
uh... right...
*side note: it just occurred to me that since finding out my girlfriend's mother reads my site, my two latest posts have referred to running naked in the woods and "undeflowered nookie". I'm sure she thinks her only daughter's found a reaaaaal winner.

Yo, Islamic Fanatics!
Before you go blowing yourself and others up in the name of Allah just so you can get some undeflowered nookie, consider this:
Is it really better to have 72 virgins? Then, you are stuck with 72 women. You are a dead Arab. No man can stand living with 72 women. That's at least 154 hairbrushes laying on your heavenly bathroom sink, 72 bottles of holy Pamprin cluttering your sacred counter, at least 3,000 pairs of shoes in your closet, and 308 bottles of nailpolish spilling on your carpet. How are you going to pay for 72 massages, hair appointments, and pedicures? Not going to happen.

Something to consider, eh?

So so sorry
I gotta apologize to my 1,500 5 regular visitors for not posting not a dang bit o' nuthin' lately. I've been occupied by quite a number of things lately, not least of which an Other which I can now regard as Significant. But I assure you, loyal reader(s?) that your patience will pay off. Coming up: pics from this years Derby Day and a multimedia semi-sorta-quasi-extravaganza. I'm also planning on scrapping the Media and DayPhotos sections and just posting such in this main section here. So keep yer pants on; things'll pick up here, I promise.
Thanks,
DAve
